What if the beliefs limiting our future were never truly ours to begin with?

From the language we speak to the expectations we grow up with, we absorb countless beliefs from our families, communities and surroundings. Over time, these beliefs can quietly shape how we see success, opportunity and even our own potential.

In this talk, Mitu Samar Jha explores a powerful idea: the facts of our lives do not define our future. The conclusions we draw from those facts do.

Drawing from more than two decades of leadership experience and her journey from a small town in Bihar to senior leadership roles and a 25-year career, Mitu shows how the same situation can lead different people to completely different conclusions. A missed promotion can become proof that we are not capable, or it can become a reason to learn and try again. Being uncomfortable in a room can become a reason to stay silent, or an opportunity to make ourselves heard.

Her message goes beyond positive thinking. She argues that lasting growth comes from creating evidence. Every attempt, conversation, project and uncomfortable step gives us new evidence about what we are capable of doing.

For the next generation, this offers a different way to think about potential. We don't have to blindly carry forward the limitations we inherit. We can question them, test them and create new evidence that expands what we believe is possible.

Evidence comes first. Conclusions change later. And our potential can grow beyond the beliefs we borrowed from others.
