China's Foreign Ministry said it would welcome White House Press Secretary Katie Zacharia to visit China "more often" after she said the country lacked "proper toilets" less than a week into her new post.
"We welcome her to visit China more often when she has the opportunity," spokesperson Mao Ning said during a press briefing on Friday.
Zacharia has since left her role as White House press secretary, less than a week after her appointment.
