Trump RED-FACED as Habba SCANDAL Just Gets WORSE!!!

Attorneys Brian Kabateck and Shant Karnikian dig into a New York Times report that Venezuelan banker Julio Herrera Velutini was pardoned by President Trump weeks after his family hired Alina Habba, Trump’s former personal lawyer, in a deal guaranteeing her more than $50 million. Herrera Velutini was charged in 2022 with scheming to bribe Puerto Rico Gov. Wanda Vázquez into firing a regulator examining his bank, pleaded guilty in August 2025 to a single misdemeanor campaign finance charge, and was pardoned on January 15 along with Vázquez and a former FBI agent. His daughter Isabela reportedly gave $3.5 million to a Trump-aligned super PAC, which the hosts identify as MAGA Inc., before the family turned to Habba. Concord Partners, a Florida company formed in October 2025, offered Habba about $10 million a year for four years, plus bonuses, to serve as general counsel. According to the Times, she finalized the deal while still acting U.S. attorney for New Jersey, started January 1, and by then was a Justice Department adviser and special government employee after judges ruled her appointment unlawful. Concord has no public profile, and its business is unclear. Habba denies any role in the pardon and says her outside work was disclosed to the Justice Department. The Justice Department and White House say she played no part, and the Herreras did not respond to the Times. The hosts question the timing, the conflict-of-interest rules for special government employees, and a general counsel package far above the $300,000 to $400,000 Brian calls typical, and Shant notes a presidential pardon is nearly impossible to challenge while the payments can be investigated. Brian’s bottom line: when a pardon follows a payday this large, the public is entitled to see who paid whom and why.
