China sends 170 experts and high-tech early warning system to mudslide-hit Gyirong County

China has deployed a high-tech monitoring and early warning system around the disaster zone in Gyirong County, after the deadly August 26 mudslide killed at least 43 people and left hundreds missing near the border port.

To protect rescuers from dangerous secondary landslides, the government has deployed over 170 technical experts and 150 sets of advanced monitoring gear.

Plans are currently underway to establish permanent monitoring stations and technical teams in the region.
