Six minutes to make his mark 💫

Inter have played hundreds of friendlies, but few remain as memorable as the one on 14 August 2001. Real Madrid vs. Inter, the Santiago Bernabéu Trophy. With six minutes remaining, a 19-year-old Brazilian came on. His name was Adriano Leite Ribeiro, and in that brief spell he offered a glimpse of everything to come, culminating in a ferocious free-kick that flew in just beneath the crossbar.

His first competitive goal arrived a few weeks later. Inter vs. Venezia, deep into stoppage time. Adriano had come off the bench and the game seemed destined to finish 1-1. Then came a corner, a blocked header and another left-footed strike: 2-1.

It looked like the dawn of a new era. Instead, Adriano did not start a single game that season. In January, he joined Fiorentina on loan and then moved to Parma, before returning to Milano in 2004.

But that night against Venezia, he had already begun writing his Inter story. Those who were there have never forgotten that first goal.
