What if the greatest barrier to our future is not what we cannot do, but what we are afraid to imagine?
The Courage to Imagine Different explores the power of challenging the ideas, expectations, and limitations that shape the way we see ourselves and the world around us. From a young age, we are often encouraged to follow familiar paths—but meaningful change begins when someone dares to ask, “What if there is another way?”
This speech invites us to embrace curiosity, question assumptions, and have the courage to imagine possibilities that may seem unusual or impossible at first. Because every innovation, every breakthrough, and every meaningful change begins as an idea that someone was brave enough to imagine.
The future belongs not only to those who know the answers, but also to those courageous enough to ask different questions. Thenuli Mehansa Vitharana is a young creative voice from Hillwood College, Kandy, with a deep passion for Arts and Music. A curious and expressive young speaker, Thenuli enjoys exploring ideas through creativity, performance, and storytelling.
Returning to the TEDx stage for the second time, Thenuli brings with her the valuable experience of having already shared her ideas with a TEDx audience. Her journey reflects a growing confidence in using her voice to connect with others and communicate ideas that matter.
Beyond public speaking, Thenuli is passionate about the arts and music, finding inspiration in creativity and self-expression. She believes that young people have unique perspectives to share and that creativity can help us see the world from new angles.
As a second-time TEDx speaker, Thenuli hopes to inspire her audience to remain curious, embrace their individuality, and have the courage to express their ideas. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
