In this very insightful piece, Abanga highlights the experience of the average northern student studying in the south. He goes on to expound on how since colonial times the nation had percieved value only by the natural resources it possessed which was located more in the south than in the northern province, thereby creating an unappreciation and devaluation of the northern provinces and its people. However he brought a new perception and way of looking at the north that revealed that it had the most valuable asset of all which is the human resource. Well beyond numbers, he is passionate about social change and youth development and believes that the assurance of a better future begins with a systematic reprogramming of the youth especially within the Northern Regions of Ghana.

This led him to co-founding the Northern Renaissance, an organization in the Tamale dedicated to actively reshaping the minds of young people through renewed self-identity and relevant skill development.
