It only took a few hours for Valve to straight up embarrass Epic Games vibe coded launcher slop.
After they dropped their new “programming is hard, we had AI redesign our whole identity” app for their game store, Epic’s whole marketing was “it’s faster than Steam”.
When people got to testing the new EGS, it certainly booted quickly, but the amount of bugs is exactly what you’d expect from this type of AI project.
But that same day, Valve also updated Steam with one of the patch notes being that they gave their app a speed boost too, potentially completely unrelated to Epic’s slop attack.
And as people have been testing out the new Gaben viewer, it’s allegedly now faster than the Fortnite launcher’s faster version.
