In his talk, Kia Bahari explores the intersection of neuroscience and philosophy to examine one of humanity’s oldest questions: do we really have free will? By looking at what brain science can tell us about how decisions are made, he invites us to reconsider our assumptions about choice, responsibility, and what it means to be human. Kia Bahari is a medical student at UBC, educator, and content creator with a passion for making complex ideas accessible. He is the founder of his own tutoring company and educational YouTube platform, where he helps students navigate challenging university coursework and prepare for the MCAT. His interests span medicine, neuroscience, education, and the questions that emerge at the intersection of science and philosophy.
