[큐레토리얼 포럼 현장 스케치]
지난 4월 4일, 도모헌에서 진행된 2026부산비엔날레 큐레토리얼 포럼의 뜨거웠던 현장을 공유합니다. 📸
포럼의 첫번째 주제는 ‘합의되지 않은 불균형 그리고 비동시성’으로, 에블린 사이먼스와 아말 칼라프 공동 전시감독이 제안하는 비엔날레의 사회적 역할과 큐레이팅에 대한 담론과 김성우 독립 큐레이터의 제도와 관계를 재조정하는 큐레이터의 확장된 역할에 대해 공유했습니다.
이어지는 ‘ 협업과 연대의 가능성’ 세션에서 임수영 독립 큐레이터는 협업 과정에서 마주하는 관계와 시선이 조직 내부로도 향해야 함을 짚어주었습니다. 또한 이봉미 연사는 지역이라는 축적된 관계 속에서 지속 가능한 토대를 만드는 일의 중요성을, 최상호 학예연구사는 큐레이터의 활동이 지속될 수 있는 구조적 조건과 인프라의 연대에 대한 화두를 던졌습니다.

[Curatorial Forum Highlights]
A look behind the scenes of the Busan Biennale 2026 Curatorial Forum, held on April 4 at DOMOHEON. 📸
The forum’s first session, “Unresolved Imbalances and Asynchronicity,” opened with co-artistic directors Evelyn Simons and Amal Khalaf, who discussed both the social role of the biennale and the practical directions of contemporary curating. This was followed by independent curator Kim Sung Woo, who shared insights on the expanding role of curators in recalibrating institutions and relationships.
The second session, “Possibilities of Collaboration and Solidarity,” continued with independent curator Sooyoung Leam, who noted that the relationships and perspectives formed through collaboration should also be reflected inward within organizations. Yi Bongmi emphasized the importance of building a sustainable foundation grounded in long-standing local relationships, while curator Choi Sangho addressed the structural conditions and infrastructural solidarity necessary to sustain curatorial practice.
We hope the diverse voices shared during the forum serve as a catalyst for action in our respective practices.
