24년간 반도체 업계에서 일하며 한국 메모리를 세계 1등으로 끌어올린 오세용 대표. 7등이었던 한국 반도체가 인텔을 넘어선 것처럼, 한국의 술도 세계 최고가 될 수 있다는 신념 하나로 양조장을 시작했습니다.
전통을 깨는 컨템포러리 브루어리를 표방하며, 한국 토종 참나무로 만든 마한오크 오크통에 숙성한 마한소주를 선보입니다. 색의 차이는 숙성 연한이 아니라 오크통 차링의 차이 — 오세용 대표만의 철학이 담긴 한 잔을 함께 나눠보세요.

Welcome to [JUJAKDAN], a channel exploring premium Korean traditional liquors, craft spirits, and hidden distilleries across Korea!
Season 2, Episode 2 — we visit Smart Brewery in Cheongju, a contemporary distillery founded by a former semiconductor executive from Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix.
CEO Oh Se-yong spent 24 years in the memory semiconductor industry, helping Korea climb from 7th in the world to number one — overtaking Intel. Now, he believes Korean spirits can follow the same path.
Smart Brewery calls itself a contemporary brewery — one that breaks tradition, applies modern science, and brews for a global palate. Their flagship, Mahan Soju, is aged in Korean Mahan oak casks, a species native to the Chungcheong region. The colour difference between batches? Not aging time — it's the charring level of the cask.
CEO Oh's dream: a Korean distillery that people from around the world fly in to visit. He hasn't given up on that yet.
