In this thought-provoking talk, Gurinder Bhatti explores how the experiences we go through can shape our relationship with risk, possibility and success. A single difficult incident can become a mental filter, making us choose safety over possibility and convincing us that we are not made for something bigger.
Drawing from his own entrepreneurial journey, Gurinder shares why he believes we are all born with the ability to negotiate, solve problems and make things happen — but life can condition us to forget those instincts.
His message is simple: don’t let one incident become the centre point of your life. Drop the filters, trust yourself, invest in people and keep moving forward. Gurinder Bhatti is a first-generation entrepreneur who has spent nearly two decades building businesses across education, hospitality, technology, manufacturing, and real estate. He began his journey in 2003 by founding ESS Global, transforming it into one of North India's leading education services brands before expanding into multiple industries as Founder and Chairman of Optas Group. Today, through GB Realty, he is focused on creating design-led, hospitality-inspired developments that challenge conventional thinking about urban living. His entrepreneurial journey has been shaped by a simple philosophy: identify opportunities early, build with patience, and create lasting value. He is also committed to giving back through the GB Foundation, which supports education, healthcare, and community welfare. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
