The AI snake is eating itself and they’re just trying to lubricate the tail with some butter.
The great unanswered question that the house of cards is predicated on is how do you get people to make the content that AI summarizes when you take away their viewership that pays them to create that content.
Google decided to try to pay content publishers directly, and it’s been insultingly bad for a bunch of the companies involved.
Many entities declined to join because of the paltry earnings, while other claim that the AI pay is only one tenth of a single percent of their total revenue, completely ignorable.
Many are earning less than a thousand dollars which doesn’t at all make up for their loss of search traffic, but the dominant people in the program are allegedly on track to make a million this year, so it’s not bad for EVERYone, just nearly everybody.
