What Happened When a Katana YouTuber Faced an Audience for the First Time

This time, I traveled to Taipei, Taiwan, to take part in Kyoto Sansaku – The Aesthetics of the Japanese Sword.

The event brought together Japanese sword exhibitions, talks about sword making and Japanese sword culture, demonstrations of martial arts such as iaido and kyudo, and opportunities for visitors to experience traditional Japanese martial arts.

For me, this trip had an even greater meaning.
It was my first public demonstration since I began training in Ryushin Shouchi-ryu.
This first public demonstration was not exactly the performance I wanted.

But it showed me exactly where I need to grow.

The next time I have the opportunity to perform in public, I want to focus less on the audience and the surroundings, and more on myself, my breathing, and my kata.

This is the story of my first public Ryushin Shouchi-ryu demonstration in Taipei.
