How do mechanics hold tiny engine parts in place without dropping them?! ⚙🛢️
When you are rebuilding a small engine, fighting gravity is the hardest part! You often have to install springs, tiny metal keepers, or bearings into tight spaces where your fingers won't fit. If you bump the engine, the parts will fall straight down into the engine block, ruining your entire day!
To prevent this, mechanics use an old-school trick: assembly grease! By squeezing a glob of thick, heavy grease directly into the housing, they create a sticky base. When the metal spring is pressed into the grease, it acts like a temporary glue, holding the part perfectly upright and centered! This allows the mechanic to easily slide the cap over the top and thread it down without the spring falling over!
