How can a century-old party maintain discipline and public trust? At its fifth plenary session, held in Beijing from October 26 to 29, the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) adopted a resolution on advancing full and rigorous Party self-governance. The resolution calls for sustained efforts to combat corruption, strengthen oversight over the exercise of power, and build a team of officials with strong political commitment, governance capabilities and strict discipline. But what does this mean in practice? How does the CPC seek to keep power in check? What implications could these measures have for people's everyday lives in China, and what might they mean for China's engagement with the wider world? Don't miss out!
