Belagavi as a Blueprint challenges the belief that excellence, innovation, and opportunity belong only to metropolitan cities. Dr. Hitha M Hebbalkar shares her decision to build her medical practice in Belagavi, choosing where her skills were needed over where she could more easily build a reputation. Her journey demonstrates that a smaller city does not have to mean smaller science, lower standards, or lesser opportunities. She also reflects on challenging traditional expectations placed on women and creating an identity through her own work and choices. The talk presents Belagavi as a blueprint for meaningful change—showing that progress begins when we stop asking what we are allowed to do and start asking what needs to be done. Dr. Hitha M. Hebbalkar is a Consulting Dermatologist and founder of Dr. Hebbalkar's Skin & Hair Clinic, Belagavi. She completed her MBBS from Mysore Medical College & Research Institute and her MD in Dermatology, Venereology & Leprology from JJM Medical College, Davangere. With advanced observerships in cosmetology from Delhi and Mumbai and an international paper presentation at the International Dermatology Conference (IDC) 2024 in Paris, she combines clinical expertise with innovation to inspire healthier lives through skin and hair care This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
