Storming Loushan Pass with the Red Army: What does 'moving forward anew' mean to young people today?

What would it be like to travel back to 1935 and join the Red Army in its uphill assault on Loushan Pass? At the Loushan Pass Victory live-action battle experience in Zunyi City, southwest China's Guizhou Province, visitors take on the roles of local villagers and witness a reenactment of the fierce battle.

In 2026, China marks the 90th anniversary of the Red Army's victory in the Long March. CGTN's Mi Sutong visits the Loushan Pass battlefield and the site of the Zunyi Meeting to revisit key moments in this pivotal chapter of Chinese history.

The story of Zhong Chibing, known as the "one-legged general," alongside conversations with Chinese and international young people and museum docents, offers a closer look at the courage and perseverance of the Long March generation. Written after the Red Army's victory at Loushan Pass in February 1935, Mao Zedong's poem "Loushan Pass" includes the words "move forward and cross it anew," which continue to resonate with young people today. #longmarch #longmarch90 #LongMarchSnap #loushanpass #guizhou #redarmy #chinahistory #chinesehistory #immersive #reenactment
