Would you have turned down this ten thousand dollars to let them build a data center in your neighborhood?
Folks in a town right near the Poconos in Pennsylvania were offered that 5 figure sum to simply make sure that the Amazon data center got approved to build on the 1300 acres near them.
And it was no-strings-attached cash too, besides the approval. Each of the 4500 households would get the money once the approval went through and could spend it on whatever they so choose.
However, despite many residents giving it an extra thought when the offer came through, they’re ultimately looking to turn down the 45 million dollars that would help out the people in Hazle Township.
Many likened it to just pure bribery, others are rejecting it because the loss in their home value will be way higher than ten grand, and others are just suspicious of why do they have to build there, right now, so urgently.
