Marc Byrnes asks one question three times, and by the third time you realize he is asking about you. Battery chargers empower the people around them; battery drainers want to be king of the castle. Six decades of mentors, setbacks, a company rebuilt around one word, and one formula: IQ minus EQ equals Miss Q. Marc Byrnes is Chairman Emeritus of Oswald Companies, one of the country's largest employee-owned insurance brokers, which he led beginning in 1996, rebuilding a 103-year-old firm of 40 people around one word, caring, and growing it into 1,400 employee-owners. He has chaired the United Way of Greater Cleveland and serves on the boards of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and University School, and Inside Business has named him one of the 100 most influential leaders in Northeast Ohio. He is University School Class of 1972, and at 72 he coaches the school's freshman football team. His talk asks one question three times: are you a battery charger, or a battery drainer?
