씨앗은 지난 가을에 수확해서 보관하던 것인데 빨강 넝쿨콩은 재래종으로 맛과 영양소가 많이 함유되어 있어 어느 콩보다 좋다
빨강 넝쿨콩은 줄기로 자라는 것과 봄에 심어 키가 크지 않는 것으로 구분된다.
줄기로 자라는 것은 줄기가 올라가도록 지주 또는 줄을 해 주어야 하면 자라는 높이는 환경에 따라 다르지만 최고 3m 정도 까지 자라기도 한다.
봄에 키가 크지 않는 빨강 넝쿨콩은 4월 중순에 심고, 줄기가 뻗어가는 것은 6월 초에 심으면 된다.
