여행용 가죽 가방(보스턴백) 만들기 | Making a Leather Traveller's bag(Boston bag)

흔히 보스턴백 이라 불리는 여행용 가방이 만들어지는 과정을 담은 영상입니다. 저는 이 가방의 원통형 구조가 참 멋지다고 생각하여 사용 중에도 늘 원형이 유지되면 좋겠다는 생각을 했습니다.

일반적으로 보스턴백은 완성 후에 뒤집는 "인스티치" 방식으로 제작되는데, 뒤집어야 하는 특성상 가방을 부드럽고 말랑하게 제작해야 하는 한계가 있었습니다. 하인드에서는 이 가방을 뒤집지 않는 "아웃스티치" 방식으로 제작하여 기존 보스턴백의 디자인 형태는 그대로 유지하되 조금 다른 방식으로 만들어 보았습니다.

오랜만에 게시하는 만큼 영상의 길이는 재단부터 마감까지 긴 과정을 모두 담고 싶었으나 아이가 태어나는 경사가 있어 가정에 좀 더 충실하고자 영상의 길이가 좀 짧아졌습니다. 양해 부탁드리겠습니다.

This video captures the making of a travel bag commonly known as a “Boston bag.” I have always admired its cylindrical silhouette and wanted the shape to remain elegant and structured even during everyday use.

Traditionally, Boston bags are made using an inside-out construction method, where the bag is turned after assembly. Because of this process, the bag generally needs to remain soft and flexible. At HIND, however, we chose a different approach by using an outside-stitch construction method that does not require turning the bag inside out. This allowed us to preserve the classic design of the Boston bag while giving it a more structured form and character.

As it has been quite some time since my last upload, I originally hoped to include the entire process in detail, from cutting the leather to the final finishing work. However, with the joyful arrival of my child, I wanted to dedicate more time to my family, and as a result, the video became a little shorter than I had planned. I appreciate your understanding.

The video begins with the making of the zipper components, continues through the assembly of the main body, and concludes with the final construction process. I hope you can enjoy watching it in a calm and comfortable way.
