Fábio Carvalho marked his first competitive appearance in 318 days with a goal as Brentford defeated Reading 2-1 to progress to round four of the Carabao Cup.

Callum Wilson opened the scoring inside three minutes before Carvalho doubled the Bees’ advantage in first-half stoppage time. Paudie O’Connor pulled one back for Reading after the break, but Keith Andrews’ side held firm at Select Car Leasing Stadium.
