Could AI power a new biological weapon? | DW News

On the eve of the 9/11 terror attacks anniversary, AI startup Anthropic says, its models were used ‘in ways that could support biological weapons development.’ Who used the models in this way isn’t clear, but it raises uncomfortable questions on the extent to which AI could be used to cause mayhem and destruction. Could rogue states create biological weapons using AI? Could these be used for terror attacks? Could AI autonomously plan its own attacks on humanity? We ask cybersecurity and AI expert Dennis-Kenji Kipker.
