버진 애틀랜틱의 만행..? 유로스타 그 이후

런던으로 가던 Virgin Atlantic 비행기가 공항 폐쇄로 인해 벨기에 브뤼셀로 우회했습니다 ✈️🇧🇪

결국 유로스타를 타고 직접 런던으로 돌아왔고,
도착하고 보니 이번엔 제 캐리어가 시스템에도 안 뜨더라고요..
결국 히드로 공항까지 직접 찾아가서 캐리어도 무사히 찾았습니다.

무려 25시간 29분 지연됐지만,
Virgin Atlantic에서는 Air Traffic Control 문제는 “extraordinary circumstances”라며 지연에 대한 compensation은 어렵다는 답변을 받았습니다.

당시 기내에서는 추가로 발생한 비용에 대해 영수증을 잘 보관하라는 안내를 받아서, 저는 호텔과 유로스타 비용도 청구할 수 있는 것으로 이해했습니다.

애초에 어떤 비용까지 지원되는지 정확하게 안내받았다면 유로스타를 타는 결정도 달라졌을 것 같네요.

일단 호텔과 유로스타 영수증은 모두 보관하고 있고, 현재 Virgin Atlantic에 비용 청구 방법을 문의한 상태입니다.

혹시 비슷한 상황에서 호텔비나 교통비를 돌려받으신 분 계신가요?

My flight to London was diverted to Brussels after London Heathrow was affected by an air traffic control outage. ✈️🇧🇪

I eventually made it back to London by Eurostar — 25 hours and 29 minutes late.

Virgin Atlantic later told me that the disruption was caused by “extraordinary circumstances,” so my delay compensation claim was declined.

We were told to keep our receipts for the additional expenses, so I kept everything from the hotel and Eurostar. I’m now checking whether those costs can be reimbursed.

Has anyone been in a similar situation and managed to get their hotel or transport costs reimbursed? 👀
