In her talk, Aisha challenges the single story about Borno, her hometown of northeast which is often defined by the tragedies of Boko Haram after over 17 years of Insurgency. Aisha Umar Kadafur is a law student, poet, and advocate passionate about storytelling, identity, and social impact. Through her writing and public speaking, she explores themes of resilience,
healing, culture, and the power of human experiences. She is the author of Echoes of Memory, a collection of poems that reflects on memory, belonging, and the stories that shape individuals and communities. Her work is driven by a desire to preserve
narratives, amplify meaningful conversations, and inspire positive change through the power of words. Beyond her creative pursuits, Aisha is committed to the study of law and the pursuit of justice. She
believes in the ability of stories to challenge perceptions, bridge divides, and remind people of the humanity behind every experience. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
