How are people in LA dealing with unaffordable housing? | DW Documentary

The cost of living is one of the biggest problems facing people in Los Angeles. Sky-high housing prices are putting pressure on low- and middle-income households. Depending on the neighborhood, renting a studio can cost $2,000 a month — out of the question for many Californians' budgets.

For some, co-living spaces like PodShare — which don't have income requirements or require security deposits — are a temporary solution. But the dormitory setup is not feasible for all Angelinos. It's estimated that around 20,000 people live in cars, vans, or campers in Los Angeles County.1
