The United States is expanding its trade war with Canada, introducing import bans on products including many alcoholic beverages, some dairy products and motorcycles after Ottawa imposed roughly $20 billion in retaliatory tariffs on US goods. But the economic measures may be only part of the story. Jen Gerson, co-founder of The Line, argues that years of trust between the two neighbors have been damaged and could take a generation to rebuild.
