Today’s journey takes us deep into a serene natural retreat nestled right in the heart of the metropolis—the Namsan Jarak Forest Trail (남산자락숲길). On a beautifully warm, sunlit autumn day, we explore Sections 2 and 3 of this scenic pedestrian trail, immersed in a lush canopy of trees ablaze with brilliant shades of amber, gold, and crimson.

The Namsan Jarak Forest Trail was thoughtfully designed as an eco-friendly, barrier-free woodland path, connecting previously fragmented natural habitats along the foothills of Mount Namsan. Built with gentle wooden boardwalks and natural dirt paths, it provides everyone—from casual walkers to seniors—an effortless escape into nature without steep inclines. Historically, Mount Namsan served as the southern guardian mountain (Mongmyeoksan) protecting the Joseon Dynasty's royal capital, Hanyang. Walking along these gentle paths, you can feel how centuries of royal heritage and nature conservation have preserved this tranquil oasis right next to the busy downtown.

As we conclude Section 3, our path gently descends along the Dasan Fortress Wall (다산성곽길). Here, the vibrant autumn leaves frame the 600-year-old Seoul City Wall (Hanyangdoseong), where ancient masonry seamlessly blends with modern residential rooftops. Continuing past the iconic Jangchung Arena—Korea's first domed indoor sports stadium—our tranquil walk weaves into Jangchungdan Park, a sacred site commemorating patriots of modern Korean history, before concluding at Dongguk University Station.
