Learning That Looks Like Us | Colin Martinez | TEDxSST Corpus Christi Youth

This speech explores the importance of Culturally Relevant Pedagogy in creating classrooms where every student feels valued and represented. Students come from many cultural and linguistic backgrounds, including those who communicate using American Sign Language, and it is important that schools do not erase or ignore these identities. The speech will highlight how teachers can naturally incorporate culturally relevant practices through inclusive texts, examples, and classroom discussions. It will also emphasize the need for educators to reflect on their own biases before teaching, so those assumptions do not impact how they support different students, ensuring equitable and respectful learning environments for everyone.
