English:Can efficiency, convenience and "smart" design alone make people happy? Drawing on urban regeneration in New York and his own dual-base life in Kosai, landscape and sustainability professional Hiroki Hiramatsu explores the importance of reconnecting with nature, restoring a sense of wildness to everyday life, and building bonds of trust within communities. He proposes that small cities such as Miura and Kosai can lead the way toward a richer and more sustainable way of living. Hiroki Hiramatsu is an urban sustainability consultant working to transform cities and public spaces into more human-centered and environmentally responsive environments.
Drawing on global certification systems such as LEED and WELL, he advises on the design of buildings, public spaces, and communities that prioritize both sustainability and human well-being. Alongside his professional work, he advocates for alternative ways of living that reconnect people with nature and their own sense of freedom.
By rethinking where and how we live, he invites us to explore a more balanced and instinctive relationship with the world around us. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
