800 km/h in 5.3 seconds: China's maglev sets another record #coolchina

A 1,110-kilogram model train reached 800 kilometers per hour on a 1 km long test track in Hubei, setting its third world record in six months. It floats on magnets to eliminate friction while an electromagnetic wave propels it forward like a giant slingshot. The track is engineered for precise alignment, with deviations kept within 0.5 millimeters. The same technology can be used to launch rockets and fighter jets.
