AI is making execution faster—but what should we do with the time it gives back?
This talk introduces the idea of the “Thinking Budget”: deliberately reinvesting the time saved through AI-powered execution into deeper thinking, creativity, learning, and problem-solving. Rather than using technology simply to produce more, the speaker argues that its greatest value lies in giving people the space to think better.
By challenging the traditional trade-offs between quality, speed, and cost, the talk explores how AI can change the way we approach work—and potentially allow us to optimize all three while creating better outcomes. Arpit Bhatia is a product design leader with 10+ years of experience across fintech, consumer tech, social commerce, travel tech, ed tech, and media. At POP Club — young India's payments app that rewards — he led a full visual identity overhaul called Future Retroistic Noir and has driven a suite of AI-native design initiatives, including a fully disclosed AI influencer with her own character arc and a UI-to-code workflow that lets designers ship functional UI as working code. Before product design, Arpit trained as a filmmaker and has spent his career building an almost obsessive fluency in human emotional dynamics, the thread that connects both disciplines. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
