Hey, more horrendous news on the state of the tech industry because of everything that AI’s currently doing.
You know about the RAMpocalypseageddon shortage that’s driving prices to hyperinflation territory, but we haven’t even seen the half of it because there’s a new shortage that’s about to vicegrip the industry.
PC makers and otherwise are coming out and announcing that while everyone’s making crazy profits, they won’t be able to keep up with demand even more moving forward because there’s just not enough of the raw basic PCBs that are needed to even put memory chips on in the first place.
In order to even get the printed circuit boards, companies are looking at a minimum of a 30 month lead time and an 1100% price hike. So the computer parts they want to build next will only get their required components somewhere near 2030.
