Perth born. Perth Heat through and through.
Jess Williams pulled on a Heat jersey at 17 and didn't take it off. For five straight seasons he played wherever the club needed him: shortstop, second, third and the outfield.
Then it stopped.
A series of serious injuries kept Jess out of the ABL for almost three years. That meant multiple surgeries, rods through his legs and long stretches on crutches, watching from the dugout while his teammates played on.
In 2023 he came back, and he played the best defensive season of his career: a .971 fielding percentage at second base, with 16 double plays. Three seasons on, he's still in the #5 and still adding to his game, now playing first base as well.
This is the story of the years in between.
