We Put a 5080 in a 2017 PC and it LOST to a 1080 Ti!?

Thanks to @OBSBOT for converting the team to the Tiny 3! We shot with the Tiny 3 Lite, and the thing that earned it a permanent spot on the bench is the tracking. It's a 4K PTZ webcam with a 1/2 inch sensor, a tri-mic array, and voice control, so you can start a take without walking back to the desk. Our A roll still comes off the big cameras. The Tiny 3 Lite is what stays pointed at the workstation, and it has taken a real amount of setup time out of the day.

We put a GTX 1080 Ti into a brand new 2026 build, and an RTX 5080 into a 2017 workstation we bought off eBay for less than the price of a RAM kit. Three games, three resolutions, nine head to head matches. The 5080 rig took it five to four, and it needed the very last test of the day to get there. Here's the part we didn't expect: at 1080p in GTA V the 1080 Ti rig put up 266 average against 147, but the 5080 rig's 1% lows came in higher. Faster on paper and rougher at the bottom is a real thing, and one number will never tell you that. There's also a ten second test in here you can run tonight in a game you already own, and it tells you whether your next upgrade should be the graphics card or everything around it.
