MMA legend Bas Rutten shared a wild story about doing motion capture for Grand Theft Auto IV. When he arrived on set, he noticed developers were having actors hit the air while wearing motion-capture suits, which lacked the visceral realism of actual combat. Rutten convinced the crew that striking a solid target would make the punches look far more powerful on screen, pulling out Thai pads he brought specifically for the shoot. After demonstrating an air punch followed by completely blasting the Thai pads with full force, the developers cheered in shock at the insane difference. His clever trick instantly changed how fighting games recorded motion capture forever. Seeing Bas Rutten blow away video game developers by violently smashing Thai pads in a motion-capture suit is pure gold. #basrutten #grandtheftauto #gta4 #mma #motioncapture #behindthescenes #funny #viral #funnymoments #shorts #comedy #interview #latenight #celebritystories
