How Pennywise Came To Earth: Maturin's Cosmic Battle | It: Welcome to Derry

"Mitig, what were those things?" "Not things. Thing." Mitig explains what really hunts in the Western Wood: "To eat, to grow… to survive." "What does it eat?" "It likes the meat that has the biggest dreams, that has the endless fear." Then the origin of It: "Maturin, the great turtle, had been locked in a cosmic battle against the monster, long before the Earth even existed. After a terrible struggle, Maturin won, and he banished that thing to Earth, bound inside a falling star." The star crashed, its bindings broke open, and "the evil spirit was released and roamed the woods for a million years."

Starring Zahn McClarnon as Mitig and Kiawentiio as Neekani in It: Welcome to Derry – A Story of Derry, the Halloween special on HBO Max.
