News24 host Peta Credlin blasts Birmingham City Council’s attempt to stop residents displaying Union Jack flags on public infrastructure, questioning how a British council could reject an act of national pride.
“Residents of Birmingham, that's the UK's second largest city, could face up to two years in jail if they hang the Union Jack near roads,” Ms Credlin said.
“It follows the actions of activist group Raise the Colours, which hung more than 20,000 flags across the city to promote national pride.
“The Birmingham City Council, led by Liberal Democrats, is seeking an injunction to stop the raising of flags on lamp posts, roundabouts and other city infrastructure.
“How can a council in Britain reject the display of the British flag?”
