“유리라서 깨질까 봐 무섭다”
망원동에 오프라인 샵을 연 뒤로, 가장 많이 마주한 반응들이었다. 처음에는 그런 말을 들을 때마다 마음 한구석이 참 서운하기도 했다. 똑같이 깨지는 물성임에도 유독 도자기에는 관대하고 선호도가 높은 한국의 정서 앞에서, 때로는 혼자 위축되기도 했다. 하지만 언제까지 주눅 들어 있을 수는 없었다. 나는 대중이 가진 유리의 시각을 바꾸어보기로 결심했다.

Ever since I opened my offline shop in Mangwon-dong, Seoul, this has been the response I’ve encountered the most. At first, hearing those words always left a small, lingering sadness in a corner of my heart.
People here tend to be much more forgiving of ceramics and highly prefer them, even though they are just as breakable. Facing that cultural sentiment, there were times I felt small and intimidated all by myself. But I couldn‘t stay discouraged forever. I decided to change how people perceive glass. #기록 #일기 #art
