Graphics cards are becoming straight up dangerous to even own
ANOTHER Nvidia card wound up with melted cables - and this time there’s absolutely nothing the owner did wrong
In theory, this 4090 should’ve been COMPLETELY fine - it used the official dongle, was securely plugged in, and was even limited to an 80 percent power capacity for thermals - but even all that still wasn’t enough to prevent InteKontoEtt on Reddit’s connector from burning up during use
They WERE able to save the actual card - but the power imbalance on these 12 pin connectors is SO unpredictable that it STILL managed to malfunction
And this is something anyone with a card like this SHOULD be thinking about - especially after companies have started rejecting RMA requests because of improper cable usage - even if it doesn’t void their warranty - lookin at YOU, PNY
