Meet the all-new Bentley Torcal!

It’s an all-new luxurious SUV, and it’s Bentley’s first all-electric production car!

The question is, will anyone be tempted to pick an all-electric SUV over the class-leading Bentayga? Let’s take a closer look…

In terms of the exterior design, it has incredible presence on the road thanks to its huge illuminated grille! What’s more, it’s been designed in a way which allows it to be illuminated while the car is actually moving! It’s flanked either side by thin DRLs, and underneath there are huge vents in the lower bumper to help cool the battery. Along the side it has a sharp, angular design, with the sills contrasting the colour of the body panels. There’s a sloping roof line, muscular and wide wheel arches, and each door comes with proper, traditional door handles. Around the back, it’s a much smoother affair, with protruding rear lights and a curved design effect across the rear end. It looks like a really stylish bit of kit!

On the inside, the Bentley offers a great mix of old school luxury with modern technology. In terms of the latter, there’s a large, high definition digital dial screen, coupled with a large curved infotainment screen that is crisp and sharp. However, when it comes to old-school luxury, you’ll find loads of physical buttons that are made of metal, and there’s a host of high-quality materials throughout, with merino wool, leather and aluminium found throughout. There’s even the option to add wood veneer should you wish! The drive mode selector in the centre console is illuminated, and the steering wheel stalks have been replaced with large pods for drive selector, window wipers and lights.

The Torcal is powered by two electric motors to deliver 888hp and 1,350Nm. This is enough to propel the Torcal to 60mph in 2.9 seconds, and allows it a top speed of 162mph. It has a 113kWh battery, and a claimed range of 600km. It weighs in at a hefty 2,795kg, making it the heaviest Bentley ever. But given the 888hp, it’s also the most powerful Bentley ever!

The Torcal will start at around £170,000, but once a number of options have been added, you can expect the average customer to spend north of £200,000! The question is, would you choose the Torcal and the huge illuminated grille over a Bentayga? Let us know in the comments!
