Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has drawn a line in the sand and vowed to crack down on violent rioters who tore through Milan and other Italian cities.
In an address, Meloni’s government approved new anti-riot laws to quash and deter further riots in Italy.
The prime minister announced that anyone involved in a group of five or more people who endangers others' safety will face up to five years in prison and a € 20,000 fine.
Meloni’s approach to rioters is a stark contrast to French President Emmanuel Macron, who recently fled his country during a time of crisis to tour the Gulf nations.
Macron hit out at world leaders, including US President Donald Trump, who claimed the riots in France were down to mass immigration.
The French leader labelled those remarks “stupid” and “unacceptable”, and argued that some of the footage from the riots was AI-generated.
