Memory, Meaning, Values - Eric Howeler, hosted by JNBC

Eric Höweler of Höweler + Yoon answers a question from the audience, and explains why he prefers the word “memorial” to “monument,” as well as the importance of memory within architecture. He stresses that buildings embody the values that we inscribe to them, and that architects should consider carefully what values they want to express through their designs.

This is a clip from a lecture by Eric Höweler of Höweler+Yoon as part of the J. Carter Brown Memorial Lecture Series, curated by History of Art and Architecture Professor Dietrich Neumann, which highlights contemporary architects from across the country.
