The 2026 World Laureates Forum is being held from October 30 to November 1 at the Lingang Center in Shanghai under the theme “Paradigm Shift: The Next Decade of Scientific Breakthroughs.”
The forum features six parallel sessions covering artificial intelligence, biomedicine, future semiconductors, future energy, aerospace information, and quantum science.
At the Future Energy parallel forum, scientists addressed energy challenges in computing and industrial production from a microscopic perspective.
The AI parallel forum was also fully attended.
Four keynote speeches addressed the new cycle of AI entering a phase of technological explosion and multi-scenario deployment, amid growing governance challenges including algorithmic risks, ethical conflicts, and data security.
Scientists discussed the evolution path of trustworthy AI over the next decade and global governance approaches.
Beyond the forums, a major highlight of this year's World Laureates Prize is the inaugural “Young Scientist Award.”
Six young scientists received the award, each with a prize of 1 million yuan.
Another 10 young scholars received nomination awards.
