China’s most advanced survey ship opens to the public in Shanghai

China’s largest and most advanced surveying ship, the Haixun 08, is hosting a public open day event in Shanghai from October 30 to November 1. During the public tour, visitors can explore the bridge, the survey workstation and an onboard equipment museum.

By accurately charting invisible underwater mountains, trenches and reefs, the 123.6-meter-long and 21.2-meter-wide 8,200-ton survey ship updates nautical charts to ensure safe shipping routes for global trade.

The onboard museum also allows guests to explore the history of ocean mapping and try a simulated Morse code telegraph.
