Humans or Robots? The Real Story Behind WorldSkills' Viral Human-Robot Dance

At the opening ceremony of the 48th WorldSkills Competition on Tuesday night, 120 dancers and 20 full-size humanoid robots took the stage together for the third chapter of the show, titled ‘Light of the Future.’

The performers wore identical masks and silver tech-style costumes, moving in the same rhythm.

The audience could not tell which were human and which were machine.

Each robot is 1.8 meters tall and weighs 80 kg.

They danced street dance and waltz with humans, including embraces—a challenge for both technology and coordination.

The 48th WorldSkills Competition runs from Sept 22 to 27, with 64 events and 1,385 competitors from 68 countries and regions.
