Deal done...US-Greenland-Denmark agreement SIGNED on sidelines of UNGA

US President Donald Trump on Tuesday signed an agreement with Denmark and Greenland aimed at strengthening Arctic and North Atlantic security.

The signing Tuesday on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York comes days after Trump announced the deal to bolster US military presence on the vast, icy island but keep it under Danish control.

People in Denmark’s capital Copenhagen express mixed views on a security deal.

Trump has expressed his desire to acquire Greenland since as long ago as 2019 and, during his second term, issued threats to seize the semiautonomous territory from Denmark, a NATO ally.

On Tuesday, he did not respond to questions about whether a US acquisition of Greenland was off the table.
