A family's experience of growing up with an autistic sibling and the soft skills of communication, empathy, creativity and resilience they learned along the way. Martina brings over 14 years of experience in HR, having worked for organisations including PwC, Zentiva, and Bristol Myers Squibb, which included managerial and project management roles, talent management, training and facilitation, and mergers and acquisitions.
Following the birth of her third child, who was diagnosed with autism, Martina stepped away from her corporate career to become his primary caregiver. In this role, she has developed extensive hands-on expertise in autism advocacy, behavioural interventions, educational support, and navigating health, social care, and special education systems.
Martina has raised public awareness and promoted greater understanding of autism and special educational needs through community initiatives.
This combination of corporate leadership experience and lived experience as a parent advocate gives Martina a distinctive perspective on inclusion, education, and support for children with special educational needs and their families. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
