How do we find our way forward when grief changes everything?

In this deeply personal TEDxOvertown talk, LaCriscia Fowlkes shares her journey through loss, resilience and the healing power of community.

Reflecting on the deaths of loved ones, the challenges of navigating grief and the people who supported her along the way, LaCriscia explains how she discovered healing through counseling, holistic wellness practices and service to others.

Her journey eventually led her to share practices such as meditation, breathwork and sound healing with members of the Overtown community, where she also found the support she needed to continue healing herself.

Through her story, LaCriscia explores how love, truth and community can help us move through difficult experiences and transform what we have learned into opportunities to support others. LaCriscia began her journey of community involvement in high school, focusing on empowering and
mentoring youth and adults in leadership. She emphasizes fostering healthy, supportive communities and
has explored trauma, resilience, and grief-informed training. LaCriscia incorporates holistic practices such
as meditation, journaling, breathwork, and sound healing, believing that healing starts with love and truth. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
